Our Official Launch was a Success!
On Wednesday, February 25, 2009, from 5:00pm to 9:00pm at the Foundation Restaurant in the Byward Market, approximately 250 people celebrated the creation of The Prosperity Long-Term Care Fund. The official launch entitled "Setting the Path to Prosperity" raised over $20,000 for our cause. A variety of pictures from the event will be added to this website shortly.
Guests enjoyed this relaxed cocktail reception which featured a variety of hors d'oeuvres, sushi, minature bison burgers and a selection of meats, cheeses, crudites and fruit. Attendees also enjoyed the refreshing and tasty Prosperity signature martinis, Prosperity Sun and Prosperity Wave, highlighting the yellow and blue colours of the Prosperity logo. Guests either enjoyed casual conversation with friends and other attendees, and were entertained by upbeat music performance by David Kalil and Todd Huckabone (who frequently appear at Fat Tuesdays). Many guests also tried their luck by bidding on a number of silent auction items.
We were fortunate to have strong media coverage at the event, with A-Channel, the Ottawa Citizen and other local newspapers in attendance. Our MC, Kimothy Walker of CTV Ottawa, also entertained the crowd with her charming demeanor.
A special moment was also witnessed by the event attendees, as we announced the recipient of the 2008 Caregiver-of-the-Year Award. Cindy Ladouceur was selected out of the 5 finalists in attendance as the 2008 Caregiver-of-the-Year Award. Ms. Ladouceur was presented with a certificate and "weekend getaway" package which included a number of gifts from local businesses, which held a market value of approximately $3,000.
We would particularly like to thank our sponsors for their support of our launch event. Our sponsors are listed on this website under the 'Prosperity Sponsors' section. Our sponsors ability to see and believe in our vision to create Ottawa's first community-wide endowment fund for the elderly is very much appreciated. Our sponsors (and a link to their websites) will remain on this website until next year's event.
The "Setting the Path to Prosperity" evening soiree will be an annual event. Please contact Adam Nihmey at adam.nihmey@prosperityfund.ca or at 613 866 0924 for more information, to participate in next's years event, or to become a sponsor of The Prosperity Fund.
