Where The Money Goes
All donations are 100 percent endowed. Funds are deposited with the Community Foundation of Ottawa and reinvested according to its Investment Policy. The Community Foundation provides the President of The Prosperity Fund with a monthly report on total endowed capital to date, total donations received in the previous month, and a list of donor in the previous month (excluding amounts, for privacy reasons). On a quarterly basis, The Community Foundation provides a quarterly performance report, which shows interest and dividend income earned on the endowed capital.
Funds are perpetually endowed, in other words, they are invested forever. So every dollar you donate will help seniors forever. Our goal is to continue to grow the capital in our endowment fund until we are confident that our beneficiaries will be able to rely on The Prosperity Fund as reliable source of financial support for many years to come.
To date, no grants have been provided and all interest earned to date has been reinvested. The Prosperity Fund is investing for the long-term; we are ensuring the long-term sustainability of the Fund in order to address the growing need for funding and support as:
- Our population ages and the number of seniors grows;
- Funding cuts in long-term care and other senior care areas continues;
- Our seniors live longer, with more acuity of illnesses.
The Prosperity Fund wants to be prepared to provide funding that aligns with these challenges. Our goal is to continue to grow the capital in the Fund until we are confident that the grants that follow will continue to grow each year, and that our beneficiaries will be able to rely on The Prosperity Fund as a source of financial support.
